Garden Highlights
Week ending April 14, 2011
  • 04/13/11 West Fairlee, Vermont
Some of our tulips have just emerged in our garden. The ones that haven't emerged yet are still under 6 inches of snow. It has been a very snowy winter.

  • 04/08/11 Cooper, Maine
Finally snow and ice melted off my tulip bed and I could see they were emerging! Happy to see a sign of spring!

  • 04/05/11 Eureka, Montana
It has been a long winter so we didn't think they would come up for a long time, but we were pleasantly surprised to see some sprouts!!

  • 04/11/11 Boston, Massachusetts
The tulips that are in the sunnier location have bloomed, but the ones that are in a shadier location have not bloomed yet. Some of the tulips have two blooms! The tulips that haven't bloomed yet look really close to blooming.

  • 04/11/11 Belmont, West Virginia
At Belmont Elementary School, we are pleased to announce that the beautiful sunshine and warm weather on Sunday (temperatures at a record high of 87 degrees F) lead to beautiful blooms on Monday 4/11/11.

  • 04/09/11 St. Louis, Missouri
Ours seem to be blooming late, but we also planted late in January (within your guidelines, but later than most) We have about 5 in full bloom and all but 1 came up.

  • 04/07/11 Holliston, Massachusetts
One single tulip out of over two hundred planted by our second graders has not only emerged, but also bloomed!. No others even showed signs of a future red bud.
  • 04/07/11 Fort Collins, Colorado
Seven tulips have blossomed and are deep orange, red colored; almost sunset colored. They have large petals and purple pollen. The center is a dark purple bordering on black with a bright yellow ring aroun the four stamens. The median hieght of the flowers is 16cm
