Hi Journey North,
We have been out checking the garden each month. On January 13th we were able to check the soil temperature and it was -2C or 30F. When we checked on February 10th the can covering the ground for the thermometer, was completely covered under snow and nowhere to be seen.  We will not be able to check the soil temperature for a while.

The air temperature today (February 13) was -25C or -13F, but with the wind chill it was -33C or -27F. Our tulips were planted on October 7th. We think it will be a very long time before they come up! We will keep you posted.
