Poor Man's Fertilizer
Late season snow has been called "poor man's fertilizer" for generations. Like all moisture falling from the sky the snow delivers nitrogen directly into the soil with little run-off. As it melts into the ground it's like a slow release fertilizer for plants.

"Salem NH just received almost a half of foot of snow last night into today... The snow is just starting to melt this afternoon. Maybe the springtime sun will melt the snow quickly. Fingers crossed!"
