Painted Bunting
Birders call the Painted Bunting a bird without equal. Males get their brilliant adult feathers during their second autumn, but they resemble the females up until then. These nocturnal migrants sometimes land in exhaustion on ships in the Gulf of Mexico, so we're glad to know that arrivals are being seen now along the Gulf Coast.
