It won't be long until the first day of spring--and the first series of clues from our Mystery sites. Mrs. Berger wrote this week to say she's begun to collect them already. (Of course, if you already know where all 10 places are, you're welcome to guess any time!)

Here's the data for this week:

Thanks to Nirali Bhatt of Lock Haven High School in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania for sending his thoughts about ways changes in photoperiod change the food chain. Here's what he had to say:

"Hi, My fellow seventh grade students and I are working on Journey North. It is a very interesting project and we like it. Lock Haven is a small town in central Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna River amd the towering mountains are some of our beautiful sites.

"I chose a wolf for my Challenge Question. Season Changes in photoperiod affect a wolf's food web because there is less daylight for plants to photosynthesize and thus there is less plant growth. Caribou, the wolves prey, have less plants to eat, so they move to a different area. The wolves have less food, so they move on also. All in all, changes in photoperiod give wolves different summer and winter feeding grounds." nheilman@oak.kcsd.k12.pa.us

The Next Mystery Class Update Will be Posted on March 22, 1996.
