What weather conditions is she travelling in? Is it sunny or stormy? Are the lakes and rivers still frozen? Maybe you've been to some of the places along her route. If so, please write a travelogue and tell us all about your state, from the bird's point of view.
Guess the Nest Eagles build huge nests of sticks which they use year after year. Some nests have been used for over 35 years! Presumably, this female eagle is returning to her nest someplace in Canada. Where do you think it is? Let's see who can best guess the location of the nest! "Dear Journey North,
"No doubt about it, #28 is on the move. She crossed out of New York into Vermont and is headed northeast. She was just east of Lake Champlain on the 27th and was in north central Vermont yesterday. I've included the satellite readings below. Her next stop should be Canada!
"Since last Tuesday's report she visited Otsego Lake, west of Albany. She then travelled northeast to Great Sacandaga Lake. She hung out at a small place known as Stewart's Bridge Reservoir, along the Sacandaga River northeast of the lake. Not surprising, since this is an area used every winter by a few wintering eagles. She didn't seem to be in a huge hurry....We do still have ice up there though, so maybe that's why. Stay tuned."
