May 30 Two monarch butterflies were sighted while I was planting some late corn plants in my garden located in Grant County, Platteville, Wisconsin. They appeared to both look very healthy. The milkweed in this area is between 8 to 10 inches tall and I didn't think the monarchs were far away. The temperatures have been reaching the low 80's over the last 3 days. Dick Upton

May 24 Dear Fellow Monarch Scouts, I saw a small monarch at the little league baseball field at the Cubs vs. Orioles game. It was flying by--maybe looking for some flowers. We have had some very warm days but the nights are still cool.

May 24 We are the 5th grade class at Spalding Catholic School in Alton, Iowa. Most of us have seen monarchs. We saw one on the playground. One dad saw a monarch in the field. We want to know how you are sure if you saw a monarch and not a viceroy.

May 23 Butterflies have been my hobby since I was seven. Now I'm 10, and I can identify many different species. My dad likes to help me. I saw a monarch at my cousin's house today. Camille Arave (Tigard, Oregon)

May 22 I was at my grandma's house playing (Oren, Utah) when I saw this beautiful butterfly. I asked my grandma what it was called and she said it was a monarch!

May 21 Today I sighted a monarch butterfly. You might be interested to know that I was on Prodigy (NOVA, even!) when I saw it. It was resting in my backyard perched on some clover. I live in Wyncote, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia) and I always go to NOVA on Prodigy. That's why I thought it was a coincidence that I saw a monarch while I was reading about them!
