Monarch Butterly Projects

I am a student in Mrs. Cansler's class, at Willow Creek Middle School
in Rochester, Minnesota.

Since the beginning of the year we have been raising monarch
butterflies; our teacher heard that you did research and raised
monarchs too. Already this year we have raised over 250 monarchs;
they started from eggs. We've had our population going all school
year. When the females laid eggs on milkweed plants that we have,
students take as many eggs as they want home and care for them until
they're in their crysalis. But this last generation after the females
laid their eggs, our milkweed was infected with thrips. Thrips is a
disease that kills the milkweed if you don't spray it with a bleachy
solution.

Our class loves to take care of the monarchs we raise.

Mrs. Cansler's class would love to hear what you do when you raise
monarchs. I will be sending a letter to you some time soon, my class
might have some questions for you regarding monarchs.

P.S. please write back here is the address.

THANK YOU!
