Everyone at Journey North salutes all of you who participated in the Mystery Class Activity this year. Give yourself a double high five! No matter how many locations you correctly identified, you ALL learned so much, and you did an awesome job!

Don't Forget! Meet and Greet Next Week

Be sure to come back next week, when your secret Mystery Classes will at long last give their Introductions and Photos.

This will be a great chance to "meet and greet" the people you've been investigating for so long.

In addition to just learning a little more about these locations and people, you'll find out just how much of a challenge life can be in other lands. Indeed, several of the Mystery Sites actually have gone through major political and social upheaval very recently.

Where In The "World" Are They?

Drum roll, please.....the answer you've been waiting for!

How Contest Entries Were Ranked
We ranked the contest entries by grade level, so our first step was to separate the entries according to their grade levels. If the entry came from a mixed-grade classroom, we ranked the class according to the highest grade in the class.

After that, we carefully reviewed each entry to see how many correct answers there were with both the correct CITY/TOWN/VILLAGE and the correct COUNTRY.

Special Notes:

  • For MC #5, in addition to the city name of Russell, we also accepted as correct the original name of the city "Kororareka".
  • For MC #7, we only accepted as correct the specific designation of McMurdo Station, McMurdo Base, or some indication of the McMurdo location specifically, because the clues were indeed focused on that facility.
  • For MC #8, we only accepted as correct answers indicating "Wales" as the city/village. Other answers referencing "Prince of Wales" were not accepted as correct because they were imprecise and could have meant other locations such as Prince of Wales Island, or a general geographic form such as the Cape Prince of Wales.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CONTESTANTS--You Did a Great Job!
