| Our School | ||||
| Our school, Al Bayan Bilingual School is a private co-educational school. We have two campuses located in suburbs of Kuwait City, Kuwait. One campus, for the Pre School, is located in a suburb called Jabriya. The second campus, for Elementary, Middle and High School, is in Hawalli. Here at our school, the subjects of social studies, Islamic studies and Arabic Language are taught in Arabic. The rest of the subjects are taught in English. Our school was founded in 1977, and it has all grades from kindergarten to grade 12. It is a non-profit Arab-English school. Kuwait
is a cosmopolitan country and our students grow-up among people
from almost every country in the world. |

| Our City | ||||
| Kuwait City is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. It has an estimated population of 32,500 within city limits and 2.38 million in the metropolitan area. Kuwait City has a very modern skyline. The tallest structure in the city is a communications tower called Liberation Tower. It is very symbolic because construction of this telecommunications tower started before a military invasion by Iraq in 1990, and then construction had to be suspended. After the defeat of Iraq, the tower was renamed to celebrate our liberation.
Liberation Tower in Kuwait City Kuwait City is located at the heart of the country on the shore of the Persian Gulf, and it is the capital city of our emirate. As such, this is where you will find most governmental offices, and the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks. It is the indisputable political, cultural and economical center of the emirate.

| Our Country | ||||
| Kuwait is an Islamic emirate in the Middle East, East of Saudi Arabia and South of Iraq.
This country is a peaceful country with one of the strongest economies and currencies in the world. This is a photo of one of the mosques here.
Now we have very advanced desalination technology to provide water for our country.
This country's coastline boasts one of the northern most coral reefs in the world. Although coral is usually extremely sensitive to temperature change, these corals manage to survive the temperature fluctuations in these waters throughout the year. Before the discovery of oil in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti's used the coasts to be pearl divers ("lulu" in Arabic) . Kuwait
has long summers and short winters. The summers are usually blazing,
and temperatures can easily soar to about 50 degrees Celsius at
midday. The nights bring little relief when temperatures only drop
to about 45 degrees Celsius. Some winters are cold, for example
this winter (2007/8) was exceptionally cold as temperatures dropped
to about zero degrees Celsius in places. By the end of January temperatures
start picking-up again and bring relief to the bitter cold of winter.
