Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/10/2001

Number: 1

When I went out on my annual hunt for Monarch larvae for the classroom, I found more than I'd ever found before, about a dozen which are now educating kids in 10 classrooms. I wonder if I'm looking a week earlier than usual, or if there were just more caterpillars in our area. The most productive spots were hay fields where milkweed had regrown after early haying.
