Waves of thousands of monarchs arrived today, riding strong winds from the E/NE. Skies were overcast, temperature at 70 F, winds gusting up to 30 mph. Counted 112 in one hour (2-3PM); then counted 114 in one hour (6-7PM). Most flew at heights well over 100 feet. These might be the first wave of the peak migration coming down from Iowa.

Definitely the Day of the Butterflies!!
