Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/17/2001

Number: 1

This evening we had perhaps 100 Monarchs roosting in our Lincoln, NE common ground. This is not the 1000 we usually see, but they were oh, so beautiful!
There were one or two butterflies in the area around 5 PM, but by 6 we noticed them arriving... flying high overhead, first one at time, then two, then five. To find the roosts we merely watched a single butterfly until he or she landed amongst friends in the cottonwood tree to sleep and wait for morning.
I will post images on my website by the end of the week.
