Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/22/2001

Number: 1

For the first time I have monarch migrating over my house! I live on a mountain in the southwest edge of Henderson County, North Carolina near the South Carolina border. For three days the monarchs have been flying over our house, sometimes so close my husband and I could have touched them; others so high in air currents, they were gliding without flapping. This is a truly a miraculous sight - these tiny little navigators with so much intent to fly to Mexico. It has strengthened my soul after the bombings in New York. (Writing 9/24/01, pm)
