Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/01/2001

Number: 1

I think the Monarchs are peaking in North
Dallas. Today we saw 31 in less then 2 hours. They were all headed due
south, most from 30 to 50 feet. Wind was about 5 miles an hour on the
ground. All passed over except for 3, which came down to feed at our red
rose bush. None stayed long. We watched from 10:30-11:30, 1:30-2:00, and
from 5:00 to 5:15. Temperature was about 75 degrees. Last week we saw only
3 or 4 per day.
