Today, 2 October 2001 we made the following observations in our Buddleia
monitoring garden at Sweet Briar College, Sweet briar VA.

The monarch butterfly migration is at its peak. We just
counted more than 150 monarchs at one Buddleia patch. This may be the last
pulse of the season, or it may be followed by more over the next two weeks.
