Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/11/2001

Number: 1

We have released the last two Monarch's that we housed from the pupa stage. The next tolast one emerged on Monday, but it was very cold and windy here, and the weather men were forcasting a HARD freeze that night, so we kept him in the Butterfly cage until Tuesday. In the meantime the last one emerged also. (a Female) Tuesday afternoon it became fairley warm so my husband took the cage outside opened the top and allowed them to leave when they wished. We are looking foreward to next summer to help them once again. We are already getting more of our yard ready for Milkweed planting and flowers that they prefer to feed from.It is going to be a long winter I'm afraid.
