Three second grade classes our participating in the Journey North Tulip Experiment! We planted 60 tulip bulbs on October 12, 2001. The students dug and measured the 7 inch depth and spaced the bulbs 4 inches apart. We were all a little amazed at how deep 7 inches actually is. The students previously dissected a tulip bulb and examined the parts under the microscope. They then drew diagrams and labled the tulip parts. The students also weighed and measured the circumference of their bulbs before they planted them. The students are very excited and can't wait until the first signs of spring peek through their carefully laid tulip bed.
