Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/19/2001

Number: 1

Thirty classes at South Shades Crest School (K-grade 5)have been planting Red Emperor tulip bulbs all week. Our temperature has been in the low 70s during the day and 30s to 40s at night. Each class planted their bulbs in a 2 foot diameter circle. We dug 10 inches deep, added peat moss to the soil and back filled the hole to a depth of 7 inches. The 31 circles are spread out along a slight crest a little more than 3 yards away from the edge of a parking lot. The extra circle was for our office staff who wanted to be in on the action. We have planted a total of 591 bulbs!
