Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/26/2001

Number: 1

Hello, fellow gardeners! My Council Elementary Class (4th grade)planted their tulips on Friday, October 26. It was a very nice and balmy day. Prior to that we had colder days, and very little rain. It has been a drought year for our area and the whole state once again. Today is Tuesday, October 30, and we have had a wonderful rain for the tulips in the ground! All plants will have the moisture needed before the snow begins to fall. Our students enjoyed measuring the circumference of the bulbs and finding the weight of their own bulb. They are keeping a record book. They have studied the parts of a tulip and recorded data on their graphs for the circumferce and weight. They have made some very good predictions. Our class enjoyed the picture of the barge bringing the tulip bulbs to the United States from Sassenheim. Thank you for posting the picture for us!
