On October 1st of this year(as expected,we usually get them the first week in October) our beloved Brants returned from Baffin Bay in the Artic. They will remain here till May when they return to the Artic to breed. During the first month or so you can recognize the immatures. This has taken me years of watching to actually notice. I am told by some biologist that a unique feature of our NYC flock is that they eat lawn grass something they don't do in other North Eastern areas that he knew of.
