Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/25/2001

Number: 1

Team 7A students from Cedar Bluff Middle School planted four small tulip plots after making predictions, measuring, and determining the mass of our 50 bulbs. Students analyzed each site and made predictions prior to planting regarding the four small plots that were planted in a pre-existing flower garden. The only aspect they rated low was proximity to pavement. There is a one-way circular drive approx. 5-6 feet from the garden border where the tulip plots are planted. All other criteria were adequately met. Students are eager to observe signs of
spring and will share the bulbs' blooms for dissection with the
other 7th grade team. By the way, our team is also participating in the symbolic Monarch migration. The week before
we mailed ours off we were delighted to have a new student arrive from Mexico! He is teaching us Spanish while he is learning beginning English! This has doubled the cultural enrichment opportunities for us that these projects first provided.
