Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/20/2001

Number: 1

From: Bainbridge Is., WA -I read a story to the first graders by Lois Ehlert entitled "Planting a Rainbow". Then two parent helpers took the students outside into the gray and windy day two by two to plant two bulbs each in the planter between the curbs of our school parking lot. One bulb was accidentally planted in the hard dirt under the cedar trees (we wondered why the planters didn't return more quickly). There will be 39 bulbs for the students to view blooming from our classroom window come Spring. Who will spot the first red cool flame of the Emperor tulips? Will the shaded tulip also bloom? We're excited to see.
