Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/19/2001

Number: 1

We planted our Red Emperor bulbs on a west facing slope near a maple tree on Monday morning, 11/19/01. It was a very warm 60 degrees for Ithaca. We took turns and each planted one bulb 7 inches deep, for a total of 20 bulbs. Then we stuck popsicle sticks (after eating the popsicles) in next to our bulbs. The sticks were numbered so we'd know which bulb was ours. We also have a map of our planting to make it easier to keep track.
We chose this site because it wasn't sloping south, water wouldn't flood the bulbs, and nobody walks there. It's also near where the buses unload so we can enjoy them every morning and afternoon after they bloom.
