While walking in the woods today I bent over to pick up a discarded pop can and found a very lively earth worm under it. Also there were lots of other insects under every piece of wood that I looked under. Winter has forgotten us up till now and the insects are quite active. Actually, there are earthworms on the driveway after every rain so they haven't gone very deep into the soil.
