RE: Monarchs along the Texas coast and in Austin.

A monarch was signted in Austin, Texas (about 70 miles northeast of our school)

Since we know that monarchs overwinter along the Gulf Coast, could the monarch seen in Austin be a "stray" that has drifted west, or is this a monarch returning from Mexico? Or did it overwinter as a chrysalis in Austin and just emerge? (We found larvae in December in our butterfly garden). The TMI seventh grade monarch team wants to know your thoughts. How could we determine where this monarch came from?
