Robins have been wintering in San Rafael. The first robins arrived in mid-November and big flocks arrived at the beginning of December. We have had flocks up to a hundred or more eating pyrocantha, toyon, camphor tree and other berries in our small back yard. They seem to prefer the pyrocantha berries, eating them first and then moving on to the other berries. Sometimes they seem to get drunk on the pyrocantha berries and crash into our big glass windows, although this year we did not have any casulties. About a month ago, however, when the robins were gorging on the camphor tree berries in our front yard, one robin decided that its favorite roosting spot was on the top of my husband's Explorer. This would not have been a problem except that the camphor berries apparently have a laxative effect. This was not so bad, since we have been having quite a bit of rain, which washed the car off. When my husband was away on business, however, the robin shifted to the old 1991 Explorer that
