I've seen several monarchs in flight over the winter, however this sighting indicates they are doing more than just "hanging around."
Our milkweed garden was stripped of leaves by monarchs this past fall. Some new leaves sprouted back in mid-January. Today I found a monarch catepillar, fourth instar, munching on the new leaves.
