Today, Monday, February 25, four students inspected our tulip bed and reported that 9 out of 40 tulip tips had emerged. Their thermometer registered 32 degrees although the official airport temperature was 23 degrees. The bed is on the south side of a house about 6 feet away from the base of the building. Although it is cold today, it was 67 degrees on Saturday. January and February have been a mixture of our usual cold weather plus periods of unseasonably warm weather. My students were excited to see tulip tips on such a cold day!
