My "unpaved" yard is a certified backyard wildlife habitat, providing food, water, and shelter to birds and small mammals. The landscaping includes many native plants for food such as American holly, inkberry, and cotoneaster; nectar sources such as cardinal flower, blue lobelia, chaste bush, and columbine; and evergreen hedgerows for protection.
