We are also developing a community-wide environmental stewardship network including the Sacramento Tree Foundation, Cosumnes River Preserve (run by the Nature Conservancy), Stone Lakes Preserve (run by Ca. State Fish and Game), Yolo Basin Foundation (Vic Fasio Yolo Wetlands Preserve), and two local nature centers, plus 2-3 others that offer volunteer opportunities -so that any family throughout the Sacramento region will have easy access to a nearby environmental stewardship resource.

>For example, on Earth Day this year, as part of Sacramento Creek Week 2002 (led by the Sacramento Urban Creeks Council) more than 2000 participants will spend 3 hours cleaning creeks at 45-50 locations and 2 hours at a family-friendly celebration. Representatives from about 20 federal, state and local government agencies, park districts, private environmental businesses and community activists coordinate the many administrative details to make this event an annual showcase. Funding is all generated
