Earthworm (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/02/2002

Number: 1

I saw the first earthworm today, drowned in a water dish put out for the birds. This is exactly what I found last year, drowned earthworms. Since it is not feasible that the worms are climbing up into the dish in order to drown themselves, it is clear that a bird/birds are dropping these worms in the water and abandoning them. I have never found any explantion as to why a bird would do this.
