Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/01/2002

Number: 1

Our first observation since planting the bulbs took place on March 1, 2002. Not knowing what we would discover in the 5 circular beds we planted in our school's courtyard, only 5 children at a time treaded very carefully over the soil. After a while some screams of delight were heard with each discovery of tiny emerging tulips! The Downey 2nd graders have found about 30 out of 150 bulbs planted are indeed poking through the soil! They were so excited they wrote letters to the Principal, Ms. Batten, to alert her to the fact that spring is coming!
