It has been a very mild winter here in the lower Hudson Valley of New York State (about 50 miles north of New York City), and on Saturday we had temperatures in the 60's. Today when we returned to school (much colder, however!) we noticed that two of our tulips have emerged. Perhaps it's significant that this has happened on the six-month anniversary of Sept. 11th. Our first two tulips are reminders that always, despite devastation and horrendous loss, there is life.
