Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/14/2002

Number: 1

One adult, not much faded, flying towards NNW across highway 290 at Sprindale Road.
One adult, fresh-flopping roadkill on Decker Lane.
These are the first Monarchs seen by me here since January sightings, and are the first with northward direction.

This is the first spring of 34 observed in Central Texas, that I have seen abundant Monarchs.
Beginning 14th March, I have seen Monarchs daily, up to six at a time and almost all day long, and even during rain. Most are nectaring at flowers of Laurel Cherry - *Prunus caroliniana*.
