First monarch of the year sighted in my back yard at around 5:20 pm. It did not appear to be very faded or tattered. Traveling from northeast to southwest about 10-15 feet from the ground. The temperature was around 80 degrees and the winds have been gusty and from the north. Unfortunately, with the latest freeze there is not much in the way of food sources for the butterflies and I have not yet found any emerging milkweed in the area.
