Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/15/2002

Number: 1

My first sightings of the year (three individuals flying across the roadway) occurred on March 15 near Nursery, Texas. On reaching my home in the afternoon, I observed two more moving northward across my yard; I live in NW Victoria County. This is of special interest because I had just visited Choke Canyon and Kingsville on March 13 & 14, where I searched for butterflies on both days, but did not see a Monarch. It appears then that March 15 was a special day with considerable movement, the first of the year for this area. - Ro Wauer
