I've been keeping a keen ear out for my first AMERICAN ROBIN [Merle d'Amérique] and finally got it this morning about 11 AM here at Bancroft Point. It was calling from the top of a tall dead spruce, and soon flew off toward the northwest. It is sunny and clear (-2C) with a brisk NW wind, ground bare but frozen, and a thin skim of ice on previously open ponds and lakes.
