I've been back from Mexico for a week now, and today I spotted my first Arkansas monarch. I was coming back from lunch about 12:30 and saw it float by the side of the road on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. I wasn't able to stop, so the sex remains a mystery. I'm putting out my tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) today. I tried to put them out earlier in the week, but we had a cold front come through. The last two nights have dropped below freezing, but a southwest wind is warming things up today. It is suppose to continue into next week. I guess it is probably bringing up the monarchs from Texas.
As of March 28, still no native milkweed up yet.
