All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/26/2002

Number: 1

We are well into our 24th Spring Whale Watch week for the Whale Watching Spoken Here program Calm weather and abundant whales have led to lots of whale sightings. Of the 29 locations with volunteers stationed the 8 days from March 23 to March 30 from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., we have 25% of the site/days' data in: 847 whale sightings and 5,158 visitor contacts (people who were helped in spotting or understanding the whale migration)

This "live data" is updated daily on the website, address above. Volunteer coordinator, Mike Rivers, with Oregon Parks and Recreation Department just got back from a fabulous trip to San Ignacio Lagoon in baja where he got to pet numerous gray whale calves and cows on the OSU Gray Whale Expedition with Dr. Bruce Mate!
