Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/27/2002

Number: 1

Today, 3/27/02 is the first warm nice day we have had in a month. I saw my first female monarch slowly moving along the vetch that has just come out and is flowering. Do not know if this is the first of the migration or if we will get any migration in North East Texas. Antelope Milkweed is just beginning to peak through the ground. Let's hope it is the beginning.

You can add three more monarchs to the count. After I sent the sighting I went
out into the surrounding pasture and saw three more. They were not too
vibrant but I didn't get close enough to see if they were male or female.
This has to be the beginning of something! All of the monarchs today were
heading north.....and a slow easy pace. Temperatures reached the 60's and
the wind was out of the South.
