Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 03/18/2002

Number: 1

I looked out our kitchen door to see an unusual site. There
under my small bird feeder where corn and mixed bird feed is also spread was a strange site. We had just had a 10/15 cm snow fall the night before, and the birds come and scratch away the snow. But the bird I saw was a strange one looking for feed. I looked, and looked again, and could not believe my eyes. It was a robin .... my first this year, and I can assure you it was not singing. I have not seen it since. We are still having almost daily snow squalls and white outs as one storm system after another moves through this area. I am quite sure, however,
that those robins in the area will survive well in the cedar thickets, where as we discussed last year, some robins actually winter over as far north as Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
