Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/01/2002

Number: 1

We have been working in backyard to replant our A. curassavica (froze on February 25th and then again on March 3rd) and continue to see a few monarchs pass thru, leave the neighborhood between north and northeast, large, some fade to faded. We brought in enough cuttings in late February to start all over when the forecast was for record lows. Rooted cuttings look better than the new growth on old plants that are finally coming back at the ground. Trees that were greening out, lawns that were requiring mowing, and wildflowers that were blooming are finally getting back to the conditions of pre Feb 25th. For some counties in the seven county area this will be the driest Jan-Feb-Mar in 104 years! Wildflowers and native milkweeds in low numbers.
