Barn Swallow (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/01/2002

Number: 1

Yesterday, about 3/4 of a mile offshore and 6 miles south of the Ponce Inlet in FL I saw 3 Barn Swallows pass right next to our boat at about 10 AM heading north.

Today at the Inlet where I am now doing my daily bird surveys I had 4 more come across the Inlet.

It is of my opinion that these birds are true migrators from S. American whereas the birds seen in Jan and Feb by folks are ones who migrate to our state and winter here or stay in our state
year round.
