Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/01/2002

Number: 1

Very tiny tiny visitor spotted around 8:00p.m. central time. Quite late I'd say to be out foraging. It was already dark. When we turned on the porch light it went right next to us. Was an inquisitive little fellow. Stayed low to the ground going from buttercup to buttercup. I thought that was unusual. Also spotted the markings of a buff belly on 3-28-01. I have plenty of bottle brush, shrimp plant and a pom pom bottle brush variety, but it was visiting a fresh feeder.
