A group of students from Mississippi College found 33 eggs and a single first instar larva this afternoon (4 April, 2002) at the Choctaw Trails site in southwest Jackson. The larva had just emerged and had partially eaten its egg shell; the leaf on which this partial shell was located also had another partial shell indicating a second larva had also hatched but that one was not located. No adults were observed this afternoon and due to the lower temperatures on April 3 and April 4, it is unlikely that oviposition has occured since the 2nd.
