Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 04/05/2002

Number: 1

I had such a treat this morning. I went out onto the back patio about 6:00 and was treated to the song of the Townsend's Solitaire. About an hour later I looked at the trees and saw a Cedar Waxwing, then another, then another, eventually counting 9. A couple flew down to my pond, a robin swooped in and
"bossed" them away and kept them away until his thirst had been slacked and his morning bath finished. Then the CW's came down out of the trees, drinking and bathing. 2 more robins flew in to the water but were much more well-mannered.
Soon I had English Sparrows, House Finches, Robins and CW's all drinking and bathing in harmony. Well, one English Sparrow and a CW exchanged words, but it was mostly an amicable gathering. By this time, I could count 15 CW's. After their baths they flew to the trees, preened and then enmasse flew on about their way. It was a most enjoyable 20 minutes on a beautiful spring morning!
