One of my second graders said she saw a monarch in Kinston, NC. She said she saw it about 3:30 in the afternoon. It was flying around an azalea bush with pink blossoms on it. My student was wearing shorts and recalls that it was very warm that day. She remembers that it was sunny with a light breeze.
