Monarch oviposition on Asclepias viridis continues in the Jackson area. While measuring and counting milkweed plants this afternoon (April 9, 2002) Mississippi College students observed a female deposit four eggs on three different plants at our study site at Choctaw Trails. A. viridis stems ranged from 3-10 cm today and had as many as 13 leaves; a few plants have floral buds well developed. Eggs or larvae were observed on 14% of the plants in the samples for today.
