Monarchs are still being sighted in our fields at Choctaw Trails in southwest Jackson, and eggs and larvae are still being found. I collected 11 eggs on Asclepias viridis this afternoon even though I was trying to avoid taking plants with eggs or larvae. I have collected about 70 of the early eggs here and am providing larvae to local school groups. The ones that have not yet been adopted I am feeding by collecting local milkweed plants from the same fields from which the eggs were collected. Next Saturday, April 20 is "Monarch Day" at the Clinton Community Nature Center; I am hopeful that the remaining larvae will be adopted by good homes then.
